In order to protect yourself and family from fire, it is important to educate and familiarise yourself and your family with fire risks and how to keep fire safe.  This includes having an agreed and practiced escape plan should a fire break out in your home.

No-one expects to have a house fire however, it is all the more important to ensure you have protection if a fire were to break out. Our Firechief 1kg Powder Extinguisher is perfect to protect both your home office, lounge, dining area. We would also recommend a fire blanket, suitable for cooking fires.

Firechief has been providing peace of mind to the households of the United Kingdom for more than 60 years. You’ll see our fire safety products in thousands of schools, offices, shops, and homes, and everywhere in between. Our products are stocked at B&Q, Screwfix and Amazon and you can see our full range on our website at www.firechiefglobal.com

You do not need training as such however, we would recommend you familiarise yourself with the product so that in the case of an emergency you know how to use it. We would also recommend the PASS technique, this allows you to remember how to use an extinguisher – P – Pull, A- Aim, S – Squeeze & S – Sweep the nozzle back and forth and extinguish the flames from the bottom. If your cooker were to set alight, we would recommend you use a fire blanket. Turn off the heat (if you can do so safely) and place a fire blanket over the fire, this smothers it causing the fire to consume what oxygen is left, allowing the fire to dwindle. NEVER use water, this creates an explosion of steam which is dangerous.

It is possible that the lithium-ion battery in either your mobile phone or laptop could overheat starting a potentially disastrous fire. In order to contain the thermal runaway and resulting fire, you need to use a lithium battery extinguisher; these extinguishers are specifically designed to put out lithium battery fires.

For those of you who do DIY it is crucial you have some fire safety equipment.  We would recommend a 2kg powder extinguisher, which is suited to larger domestic fire risks such as DIY.

It is good practice to keep a first aid kit, a powder extinguisher, and a fire blanket in your car. These three items each cover different types of accident/fire. The Firechief Home & Travel Safety Pack is ideal as it contains all these items.

The Firechief Home & Leisure Travel Pack is ideal for these type of trips since it includes a fire blanket, a powder fire extinguisher and a first aid kit.  The Firechief Flame Buster aerosol extinguisher is also a good option for cooking fires involving grease and oil.

There are two options for tackling a barbeque fire. Either a general purpose powder extinguisher or the Firechief Flame Buster Aerosol Extinguisher. Both are intended to tackle fires involving grease and oil.
